Thousands of senior citizens are forced by economic hardship to go without the daily nutrients they desperately need to support their health. “Should I buy medicine or food?” This is the dilemma of many elderly people.
To assist our nation's elderly, Vitamin Relief USA ™ has developed Senior Support which provides daily vitamin supplementation to help the elderly maintain their health and well-being and assist them in coping with the challenges of aging.
This program currently serves vitamins to over 2,500 seniors, at 15 distribution locations in 9 states.
“I am delighted that Riverside is a pilot city for a major health initiative for seniors. Vitamins are important for the quality of our health, and especially for seniors,” commented Mayor Loveridge.
William Timmons, Vice-Chair of the Mayor's Commission on Aging also comments, “On behalf of the Commission, I wish to express our sincere gratitude to Vitamin Relief USA ™ . This represents an extraordinary gesture of concern for the physical welfare of our older citizens.”
The success of the program is measured in part by the results of an observational survey done in 2004. Participating seniors reported an increase in health, energy, and mobility, as well as improvements in sleep and eating habits, mental and emotional health, and self-esteem. There were also reported decreases in seasonal illnesses and pain, as well as a reduced need for medication. Most importantly, 69% of the seniors reported they now take a more active role in their overall health. “I do have more pep and energy. I feel much better, and I can take better care of myself because of the extra energy,” says 79-year-old Dorothy Bevers of Riverside, California. “At my age (88), it is unusual to feel as well - physically well!” stated an anonymous program participant in Riverside, CA.
Vitamins for this program have been generously donated by Wyeth Consumer Healthcare who has provided Centrum, and Natural Alternatives International (NAI) who has provided multivitamins and calcium/magnesium.
